Why Boulder Blue is different from store-bought tests Most air quality kits you'll find online rely on passive collection or simple counting under a microscope — they can tell you something is in your air, but not what. Boulder Blue sequences the DNA found on the filter–the same genetic technology used in scientific research–to identify and quantify the DNA sequences of the mold and pollen circulating in your home. With this technique, specific mold species and pollen types are identified with incomparable accuracy. It's the difference between knowing something might be in your air and knowing exactly what species of mold spores or pollen grains there are.

How many filters do I need? For a thorough picture of your home, we recommend one filter per 1,000 sq ft or one filter per level — whichever gives you better coverage for your layout. The kit includes one filter to get you started. Add Additional Room Refills to your order to cover more of your home in one testing session.

2. Run it for just 2 hours to collect your air sample
3. Pack your used filter(s) and fan into the return box and drop it in the mail using your included prepaid return label
4. Receive your detailed results and AirScore™ once our lab completes analysis
